I'm not an advanced knitter. I'd say I'm barely intermediate and if I could just follow directions I might actually BE intermediate! Anyway, all that to say that even I can produce something cute, cute, cute from Anderson's patterns!
I was so excited to share my next project with my Saturday needlework group that I carried one of Anderson's books with me. I took Itty-Bitty Hats to the coffee shop and poured over it, trying desperately to find the little baby hat called Frenchie.
I turned page after page, checked the table of contents, went back through the pages... It wasn't there! Then I realized... silly, menopausal me! It is in Itty Bitty Nursery!
As you can see below, this little hat is just CALLING to be knitted and perched on a baby head!
I've just started this hat and I'm loving the colors!
I'm using Lion Brand Cotton Ease, mainly because there is no one local carrying the Spud and Chloe line of yarn! While I could order online, I have to see it and feel it before I can buy! Lion Brand's Cotton Ease is W O N D E R F U L ~ AND it was on sale at Michaels! The colors I selected were terracotta, maize and lime. I already had the brown yarn, same weight, so I tossed that into the mix. The Lion Brand yarn is made in Turkey (so refreshing to find something not made in China) and is machine wash / dry. I love it! By the way, the brown yarn is called "I love this cotton" and I'm pretty sure I bought it at Hobby Lobby.
So here I am, a few projects later and finally having those basic foundational steps under my belt, it is actually turning out like it is supposed to! By the way, that little chain link detail will be added at the end... it will go on the brown stripe and I'll probably do it in green and yellow. Will see about that. Meanwhile, life goes on and I have to work for several hours today before I can knit some more! Oh, to have been born into money so I wouldn't have to work for a living... but then again, I might not appreciate something as totally wonderful as an Itty Bitty hat, carefully knit for my little grandson. I thank God for making me who I am and that while sometimes I struggle with the foundations of things, He's right there keeping me grounded.
Have a blessed day!
